Dean Trollè is an experienced, enthusiastic fly fishing guide with local knowledge and expertise. He is based in Hokitika on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand

Dean will show you the skills and techniques needed to stalk and catch large brown and rainbow trout in streams, rivers and lakes throughout the South Island.

Fly fishing trips are personalized to cater for each client’s needs, skills and expectations.

To provide the best possible fly fishing experience, Dean will guide for a maximum of two anglers per trip.

The fly fishing season begins on 1 October to 31 April for the West Coast region.


 

T r o u t


Brown and rainbow trout are sighted, then stalked before presentation of dry, nymph or lure flies. Brown trout reach well over 10 pound and over 65 centimetres in length. Brown trout are sometimes very selective and are challenging for even the most experienced angler.

Fishing throughout the South Island enables Dean to locate the best fishing waters and weathers for clients. From high country streams and lakes to lush rainforests it can only be explained as true wilderness fishing.

Dean Trollè is based in the town of Hokitika which is only 3 ½ hours from Christchurch. Hokitika is a small town with approximately 3600 residents.
